Years of close contact with the oil industry formed the basis for the founding of Pittoresk on the 2nd of April 1986 by the Frisch and Sedlaczek families.

During our start-up phase, the company was located in 120 square metre rented premises in Lobenhauerngasse, in Vienna’s 17th district. It was there that the Pittoresk key concept of full-service with energy, ambition and determination soon proved a success.

With a staff of five and under the leadership of the managing directors Ms. Edith Frisch, Mr. Alfred Frisch und Mr.Helmut Sedlaczek, who to begin with worked hands-on alongside their team, client projects were completed professionally and on time.  

For deadline reasons it was often necessary to spray-paint the petrol pumps and machinery of Pittaresk’s oil company partners in a rented spraying booth, frequently over the weekend.

Thanks to our team’s commitment in bringing to life the founders’ ideas and the growing trust of our clients, in 1987 it became expedient to move to larger, leased premises in Schwechat. Through the support of the community of Schwechat, an industrial site of 4,000 square metres was secured, and on the 17th of November 1989, the main building with its 18 metre long double spraying booth was formally opened with due ceremony by Mayor Rudolf Tonn.
At around the same time, the growing demand for lettering led to the creation of our signage department.

In 1992, a 700 square metre extension was added in the form of a preparation hall - to cope with increased demand for the coating of panels for the rail-transport industry.
5 years later a further spraying booth was added.

Early 1999 saw Mr.Markus Milacek and Mr. Günter Koller (a colleague of many years) join senior management - thus beginning the gradual process of handing over the reins to the next generation.  
Due to continued growing demand for the coating of rail transportation, an additional neighbouring unit of 3,950m2 was purchased in 2001, with the assistance of the community of Schwechat, as well as a further extension to our preparation hall, expanding our premises once again.

In that same year Ms.Angelika Sedlaczek successfully joined our Pittoresk team.

The period from 2002 to 2005 continued to see the gradual handing over of responsibility to the next generation, and the retirement of Mr and Mrs Frisch

In 2004 our first subsidiary was founded, in Slovakia, Pittoresk SRO.

In 2005 Pittoresk was the first painting and spray-painting firm in all Austria to receive both ISO 9001 und SCC** certification, through Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd. (LRQA), which is accepted worldwide. In doing so, we once again set the bar for quality and safety in our industry.

At present we have 49 qualified and committed employees, allowing us to cater to the needs of our multi-national clients, as well as to those of our many important smaller clients, not just in Austria but also in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

With strong partners, excellent solvency/liquidity and a strong market position, we view the future with optimism and determination.
