Motor Vehicles

The main reason to spray-paint a vehicle is to protect the bodywork, made mostly of sheet-steel, from corrosion. Bodywork has to withstand tough conditions such as adverse weather, moisture, dirt, air pollution and mechanical influences such as a car wash. For this reason a vehicle needs a protective outer layer, the spray-coating. To fulfil the necessary criteria

For this reason, vehicles need an external protective coating – spray-painting. To perform this function satisfactorily, the material base and paint must fulfil demanding criteria.

An additional important reason for spray-painting is to enhance a vehicle’s attractive external appearance with any related custom individualisation, or with the specific colour-scheme of a corporate fleet of vehicles.

Given the growing importance of the latter, custom coatings (metallic, mother-of-pearl, gloss, glitter and even ‘duo-tone’) are used ever more often, startling and enlivening the streets with their vibrant effects.
